St. John Ambulance Sri Lanka governed by the St. John Ambulance Association of Sri Lanka established in 1906 as a Non Government Organization to provide the highest level of pre-hospital emergency care and patient transport to the Sri Lankan community. They serve 24 hours by paramedics and patient transport officers, with ambulance centers staffed by volunteer ambulance officers. The project is a five storied Training centre and Head Quarters building for St. John Ambulance located within middle storied strips of building such as Income Tax Department, People’s Bank Head Quarters, and JMC facing towards Beira Lake. The special features of the design were the use of recessed windows and sun shades as an effective method to cut down the direct sunlight and its flexibility to rent most of the floors for office functions yet allowing their basic amenities.
